ok so if anyone else wants to contact the governor of missouri (jay nixon) and demand he does something about the police brutality in ferguson i got some contact advice

you can email him here but it may not go through if his mail gets carded through by interns (which it mostly likely will, but the emails cant hurt)

his twitter is @GovJayNixon, the state twitter is @MoGov

this is his address

Office of Governor Jay Nixon
P.O. Box 720
Jefferson City, MO 65102
Phone: (573) 751-3222

To my knowledge, directly contacting politicians, even via email contact forms is much more effective than petition signing.  If you’re not from Missouri you can use the “this makes your state look bad” angle.

It may also be helpful to send an email/letter to the federal department of Justice, which you can do here: http://www.justice.gov/contact-us.html

Do other people have good contacts to add?  I feel like there’s a lot of unhelpful links (like change.org petitions)  out there but I feel like there are also more informed people with some good resources for who would be useful to contact.

Local-level government officials are often very useful to target - especially those who control the purse strings. They’re more likely to respond in person than those who are higher-up.
